During a trip to Paris I decided to visit the Normandy coast and one of the sites of the D-Day invasion of World War II. I wanted to see Omaha Beach. I stood in the cemetary (which is on the cliffs above Omaha beach) reading about the D-Day invasion and the many lives lost that day and on the days that followed. The description of the morning of the invasion was of an overcast and foggy morning. On the morning of my visit, as you can see in this photograph, I found myself at the cemetary in similiar weather. The head stones in neat straight rows and impeccable lawn is in stark contrast to the carnage that occured on June 6th, 1944.
